Stump grinding below grade.
A stump left in the yard sprouts, rots, draws termites, and gets in the way of the mower. We grind stumps 6 to 12 inches below the surface so the spot can be sodded, planted, or built on.
What we grind
- Fresh stumps from a removal
- Old stumps that have been there for years
- Multiple stumps on a cleared lot
- Surface roots that heave sidewalks and driveways
What happens to the chips
- Backfilled into the hole and tamped, ready for topsoil and seed
- Hauled off if you want a clean hole
- Spread as mulch in your beds
Questions about stump grinding
How deep do you grind?
Standard is 6 to 8 inches below grade. We go deeper for building sites and pours.
Can you get to a stump in my backyard?
Our grinders fit through a 36-inch gate.
Will the stump grow back?
Not once it is ground. Sprouts come from stumps left at the surface.
